Cornwall Wins Best Website at British Travel Awards

Cornwall’s official online travel and tourism guide, www.visitcornwall.com, has been named the Best Visitor Guide Website at the British Travel Awards 2012.

Voted for by customers themselves, the award provides the ultimate seal of approval and completes the accolades already heaped on the website by the industry and media.

Re-launched earlier this year, the destination website boasts ground-breaking new features which set it apart from the competition in terms of innovation and customer service and have won it favour among a variety of audiences. As well as the latest customer award, www.visitcornwall.com has been named Best Tourist Board Website in the 2012 TravelMole industry awards and is shortlisted in the Best Leisure and Culture category of the British Interactive Media Awards (BIMA) 2012.

The award was one of many claimed by Cornwall in the British Travel Awards marking a triumphant success for the county which was revealed as the top all-round destination. The catalogue of honours were announced at a grand gala dinner which took place last night (Thursday 1st November) and was hosted at Battersea Evolution in London.

The British Travel Awards are the largest awards programme in the UK and this year attracted over one million votes. They are widely referred to as the “Oscars” of the travel industry and are the most recognisable and sought-after accolades in the sector.
