As we now welcome dogs and their owners to stay at the Atlantic Hotel Newquay, we expect many of our guests will be after a good place to take Fido during their visit. One of our favourite spots in Cornwall, which is also dog friendly, is the world-renowned Eden Project.
Housing almost two million plants, the Eden Project is any horticulturalists dream. Throughout the entire year Eden offers spectacular flowers—August is particularly well known for wildflowers, which attract lots of bees, butterflies and dragonflies. There’s also a range of vegetables, herbs and spices being grown.
Although dogs aren’t allowed inside the biomes, there’s plenty of lush greenery you and your hound can discover around Eden. If you’re visiting in the warmer weather, you’ll be able to explore miles of pathways in the outdoor gardens as well as taking in the spectacular views of the biomes from around the site.
Fido can find water bowls along the way as you venture through the Eden Project, keeping him happy and hydrated. There’s also a large outdoor space that you can use as a resting stop for you and your pooch amid your travels and can enjoy a light bite to eat or drink. You can regroup in the shade of the covered dining area and get ready for the next part of your exploration around the site.
If you’re taking little ones, Eden holds events throughout the summer to keep young horticulturists entertained. 2015 has seen the Dinosaur Uproar theme emerge with an accompanying Adventure Journal offered to children entering Eden. As you walk around, make sure to look for dinosaurs hiding behind bushes, trees or biomes.
Furthermore, the site is open later in the summer, meaning you’ll have longer to explore the grounds with Fido and the family. Why not finish up the day in the Eden Project shop, which sells a range of dog toys for your pooch. We’ll be ready to welcome you back at the Atlantic Hotel Newquay for some tasty dinner in our Silks Bistro, or if you’re feeling tired let us bring you rosette awarded dishes to your room where you can dine with man’s best friend.
