On Saturday 28th November, the Global Natural Healthcare Trust (GNHCT) will be holding its 15th Winter Ball here at the Atlantic Hotel Newquay. The GNHCT is a registered charity based in Cornwall and do some incredible medical work, including caring for 23,717 patients living in poverty in South Africa’s largest informal settlement – Orange Farm.
The GNHCT currently has the Kernow House medical centre, the Cornish Cuddle Centre that cares for babies and toddlers with HIV/AIDS, as well as the St Piran’s Respite centre for adults with HIV/AIDS.
This year’s ball costs £60 to attend running from 7pm to 1am and promises to be a big night, featuring champagne canapés, a five-course dinner with wine, cabaret, disco, jazz band and firework display. Additionally, the charity has a famous ‘Diamond Raffle’, which takes place during the evening that costs £5 per strip to enter.
The GNHCT is currently in the process of fundraising for a children’s hospice set to open in April 2016 dependent on funding, which will be called Pendennis House. The GNHCT needs to raise £30,000 for the project, which will help to care for children that are dying alone, often in hot shacks.
