Here at the Atlantic Hotel Newquay, we’re lucky enough to see some extremely exciting events hosted within our walls and we’re looking forward to March’s Poldark Grand Ball!
On Saturday 5th March the Atlantic Hotel will play host to the cast and crew of the Poldark TV series and fans from all over the world. Of course, traditional dress is encouraged! We’re excited to see everyone in their Poldark finery gracing our Grand Ballroom for a night of delights.
So what do we have on offer?
During the day, there’ll be dance workshops for anyone who wants to get their moves right on the night, so come and practice with us!
There’ll be a selection of canapés and welcome drinks on arrival at 6pm; goats cheese with red current crostini, smoked salmon, chocolate dipped strawberries, asparagus and hollandaise filo squares, thinly sliced beef, horseradish and gherkin crostini and ham and olive puffs – delicious! There’ll be music from the BBC series playing as you talk to others in period costumes or black tie evening wear to get everyone suitably in the Poldark mood!
At 7:00pm the doors will open and reveal the night-time Cornish industrial landscape accompanied by the Medthyl and Gwyns as sung by Demelza.
You’ll take your seats, enjoy a welcome speech and the food will be brought out to your table.
For the starter you’ll enjoy a trio of melon with berries before launching into a main course of roasted leg of fresh pork with tarragon (or vegan nut roast), leek and mushroom stuffing and apple sauce, sauté lyonnaise potatoes, glazed carrots and broccoli florets. The main course will be accompanied by the music of Poldark, played by music consultant and composer to the series Mike O’Connor and harpist Barbara Griggs.
Then dessert will served. It will be a refreshing affair with a light and zesty lemon panna cotta with berry coulis. This will be followed with more music from Poldark and traditional dances and a short presentation on the work of the Cornwall air ambulance.
A charity auction in aid of the Cornwall Air Ambulance will then begin and if you’ve still got room, there’ll be a selection of cheese and biscuits as well as some after dinner treats! Prizes for the table quizzes and best costumes will be announced before carriages at 00:30-1:00am.
Attendees will even have the chance to win a VIP trip for two to the Bristol studios during filming where,they’ll have lunch with the stars including Ross and Demelza!
