Best things for Fido in Cornwall

We have some big news!

We’re excited to announce that we’re now dog friendly!

We welcome canine companions to the hotel in selected rooms and also in our new dog friendly Café Atlantica!

To celebrate this, we’ve put together the most fun things for Fido to do when staying at the Atlantic.

Fistral Beach

First up, we have to mention Fistral Beach! It’s dog friendly all year round and is the perfect size to run riot, make a splash, meet new pooch pals or simply play fetch and it’s only minutes from the hotel so you can get from breakfast to the beach in a matter of minutes!

Trebah Garden

There are so many dog friendly gardens in Cornwall, we may have to do an entire blog post on this topic alone! However, one of our favourites is Trebah Garden near Falmouth. It’s a 40 minute drive but well worth it – sub-tropical sensation and has been voted in the top 80 finest gardens in the world! Not only this but there is an abundance of trees, magnolias, camellias and more all leading you down to a private sheltered beach – it’s a pooch paradise!

Seal Sanctuary

If you love seals, you’ll love the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek. The quaint Cornish town of Gweek is known for this attraction. Visit the rescue seals, see sea lions and penguins too whilst exploring the sanctuary with Fido in tow! We initially thought it might be a bit scary for the seals having dogs visit the sanctuary but it turns out it’s a very popular dog attraction and the seals don’t seem to notice the dogs at all! The Black Swan is a nearby inn that serves delicious lunches and is dog friendly too!

Chill out at Atlantic

Why not spend the day just chilling out at the hotel? Enjoy a spot of lunch or a pastry with a cuppa at Café Atlantica – we supply water and treats for Fido and dog beds too. On sunny days, you can sit on the outdoor terrace and bask in the sun with a glass of something refreshing (no Pimms for pooches we’re afraid!)

Coast Path

Don’t forget the coast path! Five minutes from the hotel you’ll find yourselves on Cornish coastal paths wandering all the way around Newquay. Discover some of the best sights and explore with Fido in tow!

For a full day out, why not walk from Newquay to Watergate Bay, another sheltered cove that is dog friendly all year round, with a café on the beach to refuel and recharge! Or if you fancy a mammoth walk, stock up on water and perhaps a picnic prepared by our chefs and continue along the coastal path, all the way past Watergate Bay and onto Mawgan Porth, another dog friendly beach all year round.

Check out our new Dog Friendly Break and enjoy a 2 night break, bed and breakfast (in our Sea View Chandelier Dining Room) or if you prefer to breakfast with Fido, enjoy on the outdoor sea view terrace or order it to your bedroom, afternoon tea on arrival, doggy bags and a treat for Fido!
