Favourite Ice Cream Spots

25 August 2016

Here in Cornwall we love nothing more than an ice cream or two! Whether you fancy a soft scoop or a proper Cornish ice cream, we have tried and tested our favourites for a very ice afternoon in Cornwall!

Jelberts, Newlyn

Homemade ice cream done well. That’s Jelberts! You won’t find any fluffy flavours or marketing ploys, just one flavour (vanilla) with clotted cream on top, done “proper” The recipe is a family secret and to be honest, we wouldn’t even attempt to copy it, we’d much rather have a jolly to Jelberts and eat the real thing: unrivalled!

Mr. B’s Famously Fresh Ice cream Parlour, Hayle

Mr B’s is a genuine Italian gelateria with over 200 flavours! From the classics to some pretty fun flavours (try ordering the Triple Choc Chunk Fudge Chunk Choc Chip Ripple!) there truly is something for everyone! If you’ve ever enjoyed a gelato Italian style then you’ll know what we mean, it’s to die for! Made daily on the premises, this fresh fantastic ice cream will definitely impress! For a special occasion, check out their cakes, made entirely of ice cream!

Callestick Farm

Callestick Farm ice cream is renowned UK wide so when in Cornwall it makes sense to visit the actual Callestick Farm! The working farm is near Truro and includes a collection of animals that the kids can feed. Step inside the viewing gallery to see the ice cream being created and packaged, learn about how the ice cream is made and then finish in the Callestick Farm tea room, with a creamy Cornish ice cream, of course! The best bit is that it’s completely free to visit, meaning more money for ice cream, hooray!

Roskilly’s

Well, we can’t say ‘ice cream’ without someone saying Roskilly’s. Roskilly’s organic farm is also open to visitors and it’s free! Meet the animals, visit the ponds and let the kids run free in the meadows, it’s a lovely location near Coverack. We recommend trying one of the ice cream sundaes, they’re delicious! There are 125 cows on the farm and each and every single one has a name! You can see the cows being milked at 4.30pm or if you’re feeling spritely, guests are welcome to view the milking at 5.30am! There is at least a mile of walking around the meadows and ponds making it a lovely day out for the entire family!

Kelly’s Ice Cream

One of our ultimate faves and the one we have at The Atlantic, Kelly’s is utterly delicious! Made with locally sourced milk and Cornish Clotted Cream, Kelly’s started in the 1890s and has become a leading name in Cornish ice cream, renowned for their smooth, creamy taste and velvety texture – delicious!

There you have it, our favourite places for ice cream in Cornwall. Let us know your favourites!
