Thinking of Popping the Question?

Cornwall could easily be classed as one of the most romantic areas of the country. Shrouded in wildlife and nature with miles of sandy stretches and views that rival some of the best in the world, Cornwall’s got it all for a romantic break. But if you’re thinking of making it extra special and popping the question, we’ve got some recommendations for where you could get down on one knee.

Pendennis Castle

If your spouse-to-be is a history lover, why not take them to Falmouth’s Pendennis Castle? Built by Henry VIII between 1539 and 1545, this prestigious structure was used to protect against invasion from the French and Spanish. The castle itself is a stunning entity, but surrounded by coastal views it becomes extraordinary. Furthermore, the castle is lit up at night which gives it a truly magical feeling. A night-time proposal from Falmouth’s Gyllyngvase Beach would allow you to position yourself with the remarkably lit castle in the background.

St Michaels Mount

St Michael’s Mount near Marazion is an extremely beautiful setting for a proposal. If the tide is out, you can walk across the causeway hand in hand or if the water’s high you can catch a boat across. A stunning castle to view, you can take a stroll through corridors steeped in history before making your way to the gardens outside. You can walk on the winding paths through beautiful flowers and invigorating floral aromas before you step down to tie your shoe…

Kynance Cove

Also named the Mermaid’s Lagoon, Kynance is situated on a beautiful stretch of the Lizard peninsula. You can remain at the top of the cliffs or take a venture down to the water (it’s worth doing!) where you’ll also find a café. Picnic benches are set overlooking the ocean from above and you can enjoy lunch while the water glistens in front of you. Perfectly romantic, your partner’s sure to love it!

The Atlantic Hotel

The Atlantic may seem like an obvious suggestion, but we know how to make things extra special. We’re proud to sport a position that you just can’t find anywhere else in Newquay. Panoramic Atlantic views and acres of headland make our setting on the cliff tops special and definitely a venue to remember. What’s more, if you and your significant other love the time you spend with us as we hope you will, you could always return and seal the deal with one of our wedding packages. If you’d like to create a romantic stay for your loved one, feel free to call us to discuss it so we can be as accommodating as possible and make it a visit to remember.
